A group of archeologists led by Professor Kutalmis Gorkay of Ankara University just recently uncovered 3 ancient Greek mosaics in the Turkish city of Zeugma near the border of Syria. Fearing that the ancient treasures of Zeugma would be lost forever , archeologists hurried to excavate, protect , and save the relics of the past, including the remarkably undamaged glass mosaics that date back to the 2nd century BC. Part of the city is now immersed undersea, excavations continue in the hopes of revealing more historical artifacts.
